About Thad

Husband

Happily married for 15 years, my wife and I met at work (Staples) while in college. Which doesn’t seem like a long time ago but I guess it is getting longer every day. My wife and I have returned to her hometown and are having a great time with friends and family.

Father

I am the proud father of two beautiful girls, now teen and pre-teen. I’m steeling myself for the inevitable first dates, which I’m going to have a hard time with. I’m readying the original ‘ten rules for dating my daughter’ speech on a regular basis. If it doesn’t sound sincere, they’ll never believe you; you only get one chance. Hopefully the rifle over the fireplace and my pictures from infantry school are enough to convince them.

Community Servant

Amateur Radio

I became involved in amateur radio shortly after my first wedding anniversary when I received a radio scanner from my wife. We were living on the coast of North Carolina at the time (Hello Hubert, NC!) I was fascinated and ended up testing for my first three license upgrades within six months. I’ve spent the last 14 years on the air as a volunteer emergency radio operator in North Carolina, Florida, and North Carolina.

Youth Athletics

I was an assistant coach for my nieces softball team back in the mid-1980′s and eventually coached her school volleyball team for three seasons. Now, as a father, I have continued to coach my girls for the last six years and am now a member of the local youth athletic volleyball board of directors.

Emergency Response

My most recent endeavor is as a member of a newly organized all volunteer non-governmental emergency response agency operating in the state of Ohio. We are currently growing the organization and receiving training from various federal, state, and local agencies. We are already being recognized by state and local agencies and hope to be recognized by FEMA when the training curriculum is complete.

Corporate Road Warrior

Somewhere along the line I fell prey to the travel bug and consulting seemed to be the way to go. Fortunately I never had to travel too much and Tampa and Scottsdale aren’t bad destinations if you have to go. However, I’ve hung up my hat and have recently taken a full-time position with a former client. I still travel, more than I ever did before, but they are now only 1-3 day expeditions, so I’m home for dinner most of the time. My expertise is in corporate emergency and business continuity management, with a little physical security sprinkeled on the side.
